Nokia was a mobile phone company that was started in Finland. And they have a good market in India. This is because they provided the best menus on their phones that Indians liked and found to be easy. About 10 years ago, when the Mobile revolution started in India, there was a model of Nokia called 5110. It is a mono band phone, works only in 900 Mhz,  has got a monochrome LCD display, and rocking features for that time.

It had the best message editor at that time for sms (no dictionary), had good batteries, and the skin could be changed. I used to have a big bunch of skins and I used to change one every hour. Though the phone was quite heavy and was the size of a cordless phone, the ringing tones were quire cool, while the other phones available in the market at that time were stupid.

About 2 years later around the end of the year 2000, the Nokia 3310, which was a successor of the most popular 3210. It had predictive text input, a decent phone book memory, allowed skin change, had a built in antenna, and was extremely sturdy. It has till date been the most sold phone model, having set a record of about !29 Million phones around the world.

Then came the color phones, the camera phones, phones with fm, and phones with a music player. The cameras sucked, Radio and MP3 was pathetic, and the screen resolution was very bad, and if you had bought a good camera, a good mp3 player and a cell phone seperately, it wouldnt have come anywehre close to the cost of these phones what were being sold. Still people bought it.

India being a country with too many people, these phone manufacturers convinced the government to slash the call costs to the cheapest that is there in the world, and made sure that each and everyone in the country has a mobile phone, and these companies released new models every week, and made it a trent that people change their phones every now and then.

Later Sony merged with Ericsson, and they are making some of the finest phones these days, such as the camera series, on which the camera is great, and the walkman is given soem priority, and in the Walkman series, were Music is given great importance, and who can do it better than Sony in playing music?

I owned a W810i Walkman phone, dipped it in water, and bought an N 70 of Nokia, and that too, a music edition. It came with the most stupid earphones, and had no equalizer, and the 2 MP camera was worse than a VGA camera. The picture had a quality only that of an elarged vga image.

Nokia uses symbian OS, and if you dont know, Sony Ericssion uses their own OS, and it is a lot better than Symbian. Nokia today is just an overpriced piece of junk while, you get lot more features on a Sony Ericsson with a better price.
